This code snippet is a simple textarea surrounded by many divs and sections to create the window. The menu bar is created using box-shadows and linear-gradient as the background. The CSS and HTML markup is pretty simple here too, just take a look at the code and you’ll understand it quickly. This experiment was created by Jake Chapman.

This browser is purely made with CSS3, originally created by Sawyer Hollenshead and hosted on Github. The author of the code snippet has worked to add some more features and has tried to add same functions as the Chrome browser does by using transitions and the pseudo classes :target :hover :focus and :active. The red orb closes the browser, the yellow orb reduces the browser, and the green one changes the size of the window.

This is an illustration of the Windows 7 Start Menus with pure CSS (No images or any kind of javascript). This work is dominated by the CSS3 gradient and inset box-shadow. Work (passing a typographical appearance) in all browsers that support CSS3. Every single element is created using CSS3 with the help of :after and :before pseudo elements. You can see most of the menus and tooltips by hovering over their icon.

This terminal mockup is created using different techniques; for instance, the menu bar is created using box-shadows and linear-gradient as the background, while the CSS and HTML markup were pretty simple to implement, and if you hover over, you'll see the cursor blinking. Just take a look at the code and you’ll understand it quickly. It also has a JQuery plugin.

In this code snippet, we can appreciate a browser, which of course is not functional, but it works pretty nice as a container for another type of content in your website so it becomes unique. It is a modern browser window created with HTML and SCSS, uploaded by Codepen's user Dan Gold.

This is a notepad mockup created with pure CSS. All the effects in it are made with the power of the CSS box-shadow and linear-gradient properties. Inset box-shadow is used to create shiny effects around the darker border color. It is a complete mockup that shows all the items in the menu, but lacks functionality, of course. It was created by Taufik Nurrohman.

Here, we have a recreation of the OSX terminal window that the author, Lucas Bonomi, decided to give away. He removed some elements and implemented others. You can see that the last line of the terminal window shows the cursor form where the typing starts. The cursor is animated with keyframes, and the whole element was created with HTML and CSS.

This code experiment is an OS X-style transparent window with a set of CSS3-powered toggle switches. It creates a window with a modal effect and toggle switches for selecting different options. It uses CSS3 transitions and with a little tweaking, it could be fully integrated on your website or blog in no time. It supports Firefox 4, Safari 5, Chrome 13, Opera 11, IE 9, and has an MIT License; the original PSD was designed by Jeff Broderick.
